A week in Seattle

I have not done as much traveling as I would have liked to this year, but last month I had the opportunity to spend a week in Seattle...and loved it!

My adventure started off exploring Pike Place Market, which is a farmers market overlooking the waterfront in Seattle. It is the place to see fish throwing by fishmongers when someone places an order. It is is also the place to buy fresh produce, fresh cut flowers and souvenirs on the upper level. Th lower level is where you will find all sorts of unique shops and restaurants.

A trip to Seattle would not be complete without a visit to the original Starbucks store that was open in 1971. It has kept it's historic appearance over time. But be prepared to wait in a long line if you want to place an order for a cup of coffee. You can also walk a down block a to find another Starbucks with no wait if the line gets too crazy.

Gum Wall: Just as the name suggests, Gum Wall is a brick wall covered in used chewing gum!  If you are a germophobe then this is not a place for you. It is located in Post Alley under Pike Place Market next to Market Theater. The tradition began in 1993 and in 2015 the wall was scrubbed down completely for steam cleaning. Right after the cleaning, the tradition of putting a piece of gum on the wall continued. I also contributed a piece of gum to the wall.

One of the highlights of my trip was visiting the Seattle Art Museum and seeing Yayoi Kasuma: Infinity Mirrors. Yayoi Kasuma is a Japanese contemporary artist that is famous for her legendary installations and sculptures. The exhibition feature many rooms where you had 30 seconds to enjoy each room.

Seattle: Gas Works Park

Seattle Gas Works Park

Once an industrial plant for the Seattle Gas Light Company, the site has been transformed into a public park with many remnants of the old plant. It is also a great place to get a good view of the Seattle skyline.

Emerald Autumn

Emerald green autumn with a touch of glamour.

With the days getting shorter and nights longer, I am enjoying every minute of sunlight as I can. These photos were taken right before the autumn chilly weather hit Chicago and I was still able to wear a strapless dress without being cold.

The location is set in Ping Tom Memorial Park, a beautiful park in Chinatown, Chicago.

Wildflower

Just a wildflower in the big city.

The definition of a wildflower is ‘a flower of an uncultivated variety or a flower growing freely without human intervention.’  Simply put, a wildflower does not adhere to the standards of normal flowers. It is it's own kind of beauty that was born to stand out. We must embrace our inner wildflower and be true to our self.

We all have our own form of beauty and can be a wildflower in a field of roses.
